"Sumo, another form of Japanese type wrestling, was a favorite activity at the centers. In Sumo the loser is either thrown or forced to step outside the dirt ring. Most of the holds are on heavy canvas belts worn by contestants. Photo shows a Sumo match at Santa Anita (California) Assembly Center, with the referee in traditional costume."
