Wednesday night
Dearest Patricia:
I’ve just returned from a talk fest with Alston Righter. (H. & H.) at Menlo Park discussing everything from education through a review (by me) of the Symposium which Righter says she has heard praised on every side for a week now – and on through philosophy, generally – psychology and poetry – especially Kipling.
Thanks for a lovely luncheon interlude today at Al’s place on the Water Co. property. Being able to take you brought me only pleasure. Anytime you want to repeat lunch on the old lodge porch in the hills, just let me know. The place is beautiful & very restful. And as soon as the weather warms up a bit it will become quite pleasant.
I got to the College in plenty of time for my class & even was able to save a secretary a trip upstairs to ask my class to wait.
Here’s hoping you had an enjoyable evening in the theater in San Francisco – as no doubt you did – also that your next two or three days till I see you will be rewarding and that you get all the sleep circumstances permit.
On the way to Al’s while you had your nap on the front seat of the car, you looked so sweet that I was moved to pride and the feeling, “Isn’t it wonderful to be able to think of her as “my little girl.” Actually of course, as you know, I look upon you as an equal as we both travel the road of life seeking truth and a better way of living and in your delicate & whimsical poetic ability you definitely are my superior – so I am twice blessed.
Shall we plan to take in the movie, “Marriage, Italian Style” on next Tuesday evening when we next have dinner together? I’ll phone you Monday to make arrangements, unless you’ll have breakfast tea with me Mon. morning.
Sweet dreams - Carl
