Patricia:
I judge that you didn’t get to hear and see (interesting) [?]. I’ll have to tell you about him.
There was quite a sprinkling of empty seats. I felt as if you should have been there instead of me. Ron Stecher and his wife took me in and I sat between them. We had a most enjoyable time.
On the way out (Stechers brought me home, but I walked over) I was hailed by “an old student” and Dr. Goddard of our modern language department. [over] Goddard has been something of a fan of mine because of the interest I’ve shown in modern languages and the encouragement I’ve given them - as in getting the program in Japanese started. It now offers a minor and in a couple more years be a major. I also “plumped” for Russian which now is a secure major.
A seemingly most unlikely person to be present was our “peculiar” physicist Dr. Mowbray. His “peculiarity” seems to be something of an act. He is a good physicist and a good teacher and seemingly, as you get to know him, a nice “guy” but he doesn’t drop his “peculiarity”. - Well see you - Carl.
