I’ll write to Carolyn tonight.
Dearest Patricia:
I just want to say that you charmed and delighted me beyond words today. It was so much fun to see your delight over your new Necchi machine while Mrs. Shepard was showing you how to use it. No child with a new toy could have had more dancing eyes nor a face more wreathed in smiles. Getting the machine for you is a real spring of happiness for me. Then, in the Red [page 2] Fox, when you said you might make a shirt for me - perhaps one of those velour types that we saw at the Gem - I was so touched I could have hugged you then and there - but it isn’t being done in California this season, so I had to conceal my feelings.
Anything you make for me I shall wear with great pride.
I think I will go to L.A. for the Sat. meeting. I’ll phone to my brother Ted for a place to stay if his “hotel” isn’t already full. Tomorrow, I’ll listen for your phone call. Love -- Carl
