Patricia Carpio (Whiting), 1940-2010, was the first Filipino woman elected to the Oregon State Legislature, serving three terms from 1972-1978. Patricia Whiting died at age 69 on July 1, 2010 of cancer. She is survived by her husband Vincent Whiting. Written on verso of photograph: "1960-1961 Start college Took seven years to get degree - working to support Mother (MS) & 7 brothers & sisters. Mother in wheelchair MS." |
