Sweet dreams darling. If my whishes could do it, you’d never have any other kind – unless you think that might be dull – in which case I’d let you have a few disturbing ones, just to establish perspective.
Thursday evening 10:45
How did it get to be so late in the week so soon?
Dearest Patricia:
A group of us talked a while after Bogosian’s class so I just got home a few minutes ago and my first impulse is to write you to tell you some of things I need to say. Our lives are so busy there isn’t time to get everything talked out in the brief periods we have. This way, though, I can summarize after hours and you can then read quickly as soon as you find the time.
You know, after talking you – was it yesterday? – that I had laid in a supply of fresh breakfast crumpets – we were so absorbed this morning with grape nuts flakes and conversation that I clean forgot them. To my chagrin this afternoon when I opened the refrigerator, there they were – all in readiness – and untouched! I’ll tackle some of them tomorrow but anytime you don’t want to bother getting breakfast at your place just give me a buzz & we’ll have it here. And I’ll keep fresh crumpets on hand! I do so enjoy your brief morning visits. Also any morning you don’t want to ride your bike, I’ll gladly drive you over to school.
Don’t forget that I need to put in the necessary changes in the letter for Connie. And – I hope that you still have the Spartan Daily for (was it yesterday – the 24th) with the article about shutting out the part-time people from the College. That shouldn’t go without a comment. The Science Office had no copies so I haven’t seen one yet.
I got my ticket for the “Streetcar Called Desire” for tomorrow evening so there’ll be no conflicts next week with the Open-End Forum. It will be next Friday April 2, instead of tomorrow. The first of the two telephone numbers for the S.J. Repertory Theater is the phone number for the State Book Store. The chap who runs the latter said this week there is no sell out seats. He said the review of the play in the local newspapers wasn’t overly complementary so this may have occasioned some of the drop back – but also there just may be too much competition by other activities.
The speaker for the “Jen Flesh & Jen Bones” in the Music Auditorium was as Chris Broadwell commented a “friendly little man.” – quite interesting though without the dynamism of the speakers at the Symposium. He talked the full time right up to the bell, moving through his topic as if he barely would have time to say the minimal essential amount in the period allowed. [page 2] But he held his audience to the end. There was no restlessness whatever. Quite a few Sangha Club members were present. They all beamed friendly smiles & greetings at me and three or four expressed pleasure because I had taken the trouble to write a letter of appreciation to them. I saw Ron but didn’t have a chance to say anything other than a greeting to him as one of the girls was talking to him earnestly right after the hour ended. It could have been Kathy though I haven’t had her identified to me. It doesn’t matter at all but the girl in question was taller than Ron & probably heavier.
I’ll transcribe my notes right away & have two copies typed so you can have one. Then, the first time we have a chance we can discuss the points made. I took down most of it rapid fire – just as he gave most of it without any attempt at organization. However, his sentences were short & I think my notes, with a little discussion will be quite intelligible.
Also I got the plane reservations completed – so I’ve been a “busy little man” today myself. I’m enclosing a card giving the reservations as they stand, but of course, should any need arise to change any part that can be done up to a day or so before the trip. As things stand now we’ll leave the S.F. Airport on Friday April 9th at 7:40 PM & be in Chico at 8:50. Then we’ll return on the plane that leaves Chico Monday April 12 at 5:06 PM & gets back to S.F. at 6:22.
I’m looking forward eagerly to the plane ride with you but no doubt, when it’s over I’ll wonder how the hours flew so fast. If Vince comes for you early Monday morning – it can be early as you wish, you’ll have a fairly full day with him. You can say goodbye to Joyce & Tom in the morning & he can bring you directly to the airport for the return trip. I can take whatever luggage you have to the airport except for whatever you want to take for the day with Vince. I’ll see him & renew acquaintance briefly in the morning & at the airport in the evening. The Airport is on the NE(?) edge of Chico. Vince should plan on getting you there a half hour early thought that will not be critical, as I can check reservations & verify that you’ll be there. But you should be on hand at least 15 min. early. You’ll have no time for dinner at Paradise or Chico though doubtless you’ll have a good brunch with Vince. Then when you get back to S.F. you and I can supplement with something at the S.F. Airport. – Then, after I take you back to San Jose I’ll go back to the S.F. Airport to board the 12:30 (midnight) plane for Chicago & Indianapolis. We can talk more on the way to & from the concert Saturday. I’ll see you at 4:00 (?) Love – Carl.
Revised Schedule for Chico
April 9 – Leave S.F. 7:40 PM
Fri. Arrive Chico 8:50 PM.
April 12 – Leave Chico 5:06 PM.

I’ll phone details to Joyce & Tom so they’ll meet us at the Chico Airport & make all other arrangements.
