FEBRUARY 16-20, 1970
SAN JOSE STATE COLLEGE
WELCOME
SURVIVAL FAIRE is a gathering of buyers and sellers at San Jose State College
the week of February 16-20, 1970. The product for sale is SURVIVAL.
SURVIVAL FAIRE issues an invitation to all people to come to the Faire and inves-tigate
the cost of Survival—both to them as individuals and to the world as a whole.
Admission to the Faire is free—but once in the Faire the visitor will have
the price of Survival described verbally and graphically, through films, sculpture,
photographies, plays, poetry, panel discussions and all manner of signs, symbols
and activities.
For many people the price might be signing a pledge to join with another in creat-ing
a "Survival Family"—father, mother and a maximum of two children. Or, some people
may choose to pay the price by using a bicycle for transportation until a non-polluting,
non-destroying automobile or mass transit system is available to them.
The people who wish to pay the price of Survival may choose to do so by boy-cotting
goods in non-biodegradable containers and/or in containers that are not
returnable or re-usable.
For those visitors who are undecided about paying the high cost of Survival,
the Faire provides—free—all manner of previews of Earth as it will be if the
people don't choose to pay the price set for Survival.
Among the sellers of Survival are the San Francisco Mime Troupe, the East Bay
Sharks, the Teatro Urbano, the Urban School of San Francisco, the Migrant Theater,
the Congress of Wonders, Kco-Man and artists, scientists, students, philosophers,
politicians, musicians, lawyers, administrators, ministers, workers, teachers, house-wives,
businessmen, actors, children all of the people!
Survival is offered for sale in many guises and can be purchased by every person
visiting the Faire. The purchase price is each person's desire to have mankind survive.
