Description
Negative shows a group of men and women who are y-Walk participants gathered together outside the YWCA building . The woman at the microphone , who appears to be an African American , is the chair Jenifer Williams , and the woman in the foreground on the left side of the picture is Janet Dashiel , a prize winner . Janet is possibly walking up to collect her prize . The plants behind Jenifer are probably prizes . Some of the other participants are holding balloons or have them tied down and some of the people are holding drinks . Many of them are wearing tee shirts that read : Walk for women . "YWCA 1986. "

"Executive Director Faith Rein (the top job had been renamed again) and President Sarah Janigian launched two annual events that heaped public attention on the association : the Y-Walk downtown in 1984 , in which volunteers enlisted sponsors to raise money for YWCA programs ; and TWIN , Tribute to Women and Industry , in 1985.
