MARGO SKINNER was the editor of Mankind, an international pacifist-
socialist monthly of which the executive editor was Dr. Rammanohar
Lohia who was the chairman of the Socialist Party of India. Comrade
Skinner was thrown out of India by the Indian government because of
her associations. She is a friend of George Fernandes who now heads
the underground resistance in India. Ms. Skinner is a writer and film reviewer. Everyone welcome!

Class-Discussion Sunday Afternoon, October 12, 2 pm
The ideas of Rosa Luxemburg will be the subject for the next several sessions. As she was a strong revolutionary socialist and democrat, there is much of value to learn and discuss. The first item for study will be her essay REFORM OR REVOLUTION, in which she treats the controversial subject of piecemeal reforms. She explains for the revolutionary the proper relationship between reform demands and the ultimate goal of socialism. Rosa Luxemburg Speaks (Pathfinder Press, $3.95) is a good collection containing all of her traditional works, including those we plan to study, and is therefore a bargain. This book is available from us, as is Reform or Revolution in pamphlet-form for 95 cents. A popular, readable biography written by her comrade is Rosa Luxemburg by Paul Frolich, (Monthly Review Modern Reader Series, $3.95) suggested if background is desired. Don Thomas is to lead the discussion. All are welcome!!

Socialist- Candidates
When the Socialist Party, USA nominated Frank
Zeidler for President, we had the joy of picking a
person with the practical experience which is needed
in this time of troubles, who could serve if elected
and thus is more than a symbol of protest. Nor is he
a puppet of the capitalist system, fearful of true,
radical change. He was mayor of Milwaukee from 1948
to 1960, where he was known for civic improvements,
public housing, and advancement of race relations.
He now serves as a labor arbitrator and public administration consultant, as well as working for
causes which range from community betterment to
universal peace. His administration was respected
for its honesty. In spite of having been mayor for
12 years, Comrade Zeidler must work for his income
like most people.
The reason for this campaign, which we realize
Is an uphill effort, Is to publicize the solutions
which can be effected only through socialism. As
Frank Zeidler said, "I particularly picked Socialism
because of several things in its Philosophy. One was the brotherhood of
people all over the world. Another was its struggle for peace. Another
was the equal distribution of economic goods. Another was the idea of
cooperation. A fifth was the idea of democratic planning in order to
achieve your goals." (Bugle American 8/13/75) Americans need to know
there is a real alternative to what is presented to us as a hopeless
mess.
John Quinn Brisben was selected as the Vice-Presidential candidate.
A school teacher, union man, and activist, he has struggled for civil
rights and recently waged a socialist mayorality campaign against
Richard Daley of Chicago.
