There are many of us who feel that a lot of work could and should be done in
the area of rural development in India - but there are very few of us who would
take it on ourselves to do the task.
It is therefore with great pleasure that we present a talk by
Sashi Pande on:
A PERSONAL SURVEY OF CURRENT
RURAL SELF-HELP PROJECTS
IN INDIA
at 10:30 am on Sunday, June 11th at Cory Hall, Univ.
of Calif., Berkeley, Ca. Tel: [415] 589-9264.
The talk will be followed by a discussion.
Sashi Pande and Ajay Patwardhan, aim to start a
rural development project "RACHANA" which will
run on a co-operative basis. As a first step towards
this goal Sashi has made a survey of several such
projects currently ongoing in India.
Sashi's visit was sponsored by a non-profit group
called "Sponsors of Indian Projects" (SIP) based in
Houston. The Indian council for Social Science
Research made a grant of Rs. 4,000 towards the
survey in recognition of the value of the work being
done by Mr. Pande.
BAY AREA GROUP:
Those interested in setting up a group in the Bay
Area similar to the existing S.I.P. group in Houston
