Gardens of Schoenbrunn |
Description |
This view is from the top of the Gloriette, which forms a fine terrace, and from whence we look over Vienna and the surrounding country. The Palace of Schoenbrunn stands at the foot of the hill immediately in front. The gardens attached are richly wooded, and afford beautiful shady walks in almost every direction. In different parts of the garden ornamental buildings are raised, and terminate different vistas. The Gloriette is the principal of these, terminating the view from the palace. On other points are, the ruins, the obelisk, the fountain of Schoenbrunn, the monument of Queen Caroline of Naples, and a meangerie, &c. Contiguous to this garden there is a large botanic garden, stored with an immense number of exotics, preserved in the finest order. |
