Group portrait of children attending the Junior Mercury Herald Club meeting at Alum Rock Park. On the left and in the center, a group of children in the front two rows hold a variety of orchestral instruments, including trombones, trumpets, clarinets, and saxophones. On the left side of this group, a bass drum sits in front of the children, it reads, "Junior Mercury Herald Band." On the right, many of the children in the front row carry what appear to be snare drums. One of the drummers is holding a bass drum, it reads "Mercury Herald Drum Corps.' Several adults are among the children, including two San Jose police officers and two men carrying bull horns. The man in the center of photograph carries a bull horn with "Mercury Herald Sports" printed on its side. In the background children can be seen playing on a variety of playground equipment. |
