Memorial tablet reads : "In memory of the public service of Andrew P . Hill 1853-1922 " and "He saved the redwoods. " The original fountain of stone , surmounted by this same bronze tablet , stood near the present-day photographic studio and was dedicated May 30 , 1924 . It had to be removed when Big Basin Redwoods State Park's roads and buildings were rearranged by the Civilian Service Corps . The memorial was rededicated on July 14 , 1946 .
