Side view of President William McKinley Statue in Saint James Park. From this angle, the Hotel St. James is visible across the street from the park. First Street is lined with palm trees. Inscribed on the visible face of the base "LET US REMEMBER THAT OUR INTEREST IS IN CONCORD NOT CONFLICT. AND THAT OUR REAL EMINENCE RESTS IN THE VICTORIES OF PEACE NOT THOSE OF WAR." Horse drawn vehicles stand in front of the hotel. |

Black and white photograph. Fair condition, tear on left side of photo mended by tape. Stamped on verso "Clyde Arbuckle." The statue was dedicated on February 21, 1903 at the same spot where President McKinley had spoken to an enthusiastic crowd on May 31, 1901, six months before his assassination. |
