5848 San Jose, California January 4,1935 Friday • Roll Call Minutes Permits (Restaurants) , Permanent Merchant Temporary Merchant Dances (Permits - Licenses) Roadway Surface San Jose-Alviso Road (Slip ping-Skidding) The Council of the City of San Jose convenes this day in session at 8:00 o'clock P. M., pursuant to adjournment. Present: Councilmen ~ Biebrach, Brooks, Doerr, French, Meyer and Bishop* Absent: Councilmen - Nash. The Minutes of session of December 28, 1954 having been read by each Councilman, Councilman Meyer proposes and moves adoption of resolution that Minutes be approved as heretofore read, seconded by Councilman Doerr and adopted: Ayes: Hoes: Councilmen - Biebrach, Brooks, Doerr, French, Meyer and Bishop. Councilmen - None. Absent: Councilmen - Nash. Applications of Joe Daly, 875 S. 1st Street, L. Mula and Frank Saporito, 804 Almaden Avenue, and B. Calandri, 65 N. Market Street, for permits to open and maintain a restaurant under the provisions of Ordinance No. 2441 are read. Councilman Doerr proposes and moves adoption of resolution that applications be referred to the Committee on License for consideration and report, seconded by Councilman Brooks and adopted: Ayes: Councilmen - Biebrach, Brooks, Doerr, French, Meyer and Bishop. Noes: Councilmen - None, Absent: Councilmen - Nash. Application of Homer G. Reddick and/or Homer & ClairTs Furniture Shop for Classification as a permanent merchant at 425 E. Santa Clara Street under the provisons of Ordinance No. 2412 is read. Councilman Meyer proposes and moves adoption of resolution that request be referred to the Committee on License for consideration and report, seconded by Councilman Brooks and adopted: Ayes: Noes: Councilmen - Biebrach, Brooks, Doerr, French, Meyer and Bishop, Councilmen - None. Absent: Councilmen - Nash. Applications of Senior Social Club, 585 W. San Carlos Street, Piedmonte Club, 129 N. Market Street, and Raf A. Castaneda, 55 N. 5rd Street, for Class C permits and licenses to conduct dances under the provisions of Ordinance No. 2392 are read and reported in proper form. Councilman Meyer proposes and moves adoption of resolution that permits and licenses be granted, seconded by Councilman Brooks and adopted: Ayes: Noes: Councilmen - Biebrach, Brooks, Doerr, French, Meyer and Bishop. Councilmen - None. Absent: Councilmen - Nash. /- Petition that roadway surface of San Jose - Alviso Road (First Street), between Brokaw Road snd Midway School, be changed to minimize slipping and skidding, referred to this Council by the Board of Supervisors, is read and M. Henry Robidoux, Attorney at Law, addresses Council. Councilman French proposes and moves adoption of resolution that petition be referred to the Committee on Streets and Sewers, seconded by Councilman Meyer and adopted: Ayes: Noes: Councilmen - Biebrach, Brooks, Doerr, French, Meyer and Bishop Councilmen - None. • Absent: Councilmen - Nash. Ordinance No. 2442 Ordinance No* 2442, entitled, MAn Ordinance Licensing And Regulating Restaurants And (Licensing & Regulating Restaurants, Etc.) Other Public Eating Places; Providing Penalties For Its Violation, And Repealing Conflicting Ordinances", passed to print on December 10th, 1954, is given final reading and upon motion of
